Fine Art Flower Photography is a body of work that explores seeing flowers from a dream like, alternative reality. Flowers are one of the most beautiful and vibrant beings on this planet. They bloom only for a brief moment in time, opening up fully to the world in all their glory and then fade away. There is a mystical quality to flowers that is hard to explain unless you fully engage with them over time. They are gentle creatures and are very sensitive to their environment. Many of the flowers in the wild also have high medicinal value. Native people all over the world used flower extracts to heal many ailments.
We are often used to seeing flowers through a predefined context. My fine art flower photography attempts to reveal the fantasy of flowers, giving each flower its own identity. To stretch the boundaries even further I have used different parts of flowers to construct a unique floral composition. For instance Print #152 Galactic Iris, is composed of a number of Irises, the background texture yet from another Iris. This composition has almost an iconic feeling with golden light reflecting of the petals, the Iris is flying through the air. Print #154 Iris Bird is another example of the flower mosaic technique. This composition resembles a bird soaring through space.
